Dr. Alison Black and Cheryl Sundlov, PA-C are pleased to offer their patients Sculptra® Aesthetic, an FDA-approved injectable treatment that replaces the natural volume loss that occurs as we grow older. This loss of volume is what is responsible for the appearance of age. A young face has fullness and roundness in the cheeks and temples, under the eyes, and around the mouth.
This fullness causes light to reflect with very little shadow, and this makes the face look more youthful. Sculptra® Aesthetic works gradually to give you subtle yet noticeable results that can persist for over 2 years. It is the first product of its kind that stimulates your body to replace collagen lost during the aging process.
Sculptra® Aesthetic is a safe, synthetic, and biocompatible material that is injected below the surface of the skin. The microscopic particles in Sculptra® Aesthetic stimulate your body’s own collagen formation around them, providing fullness, skin thickening and lift over a few months, improving the appearance of folds and sunken areas. No skin testing is required.
What Should I Expect With Treatment?
Injection with Sculptra Aesthetic is mildly painful, and a topical anesthetic will be applied before the treatment. Mild bruising, swelling and tenderness can occur after the treatment and usually resolve within a few days.
The results from Sculptra® are not immediate, but appear gradually over months. Usually it takes 3 – 4 sessions spaced out by 4 – 8 weeks to complete Sculptra® Aesthetic treatment. Dr. Black or Cheryl will then see you again in a few months after the initial series of injections to decide if additional injections are needed to maintain your results. Sculptra® can be combined with filler injections and muscle-relaxing neurotoxin treatments for subtle and natural facial rejuvenation.
